Shauna Leigh. Arts All-Encompassing.

Art Geek? Yeah, I’d say so.

There are few memories I have of growing up that do not include clay, paint, glue or some other form of experimental art and/or craft. Encouraged and inspired by my family and friends, I aspire to continue my exploration of different art techniques and mediums. I play with pencil, paint (oil, acrylic, and water), charcoal, chalk, clay etc. in an attempt to create something worth looking at and admiring. At times I strike out in an attempt to make a statement about some social, psychological or political item in the news, everyday life and popular media but normally it's just pleasure and emotion that drives my work.

Feel free to take a look at some of the FINE ARTS projects I have done in the past.

Writing... every. day.

Also, "...here comes the disclosure which is not easy for me: I am a writer. That does not sound right. Too presumptuous; phony, or at least unconvincing. Try again. I write. Is that better? I try to write. That makes it worse. Hypocritical humility. Well then?"

It's just like that; when I can, I write. I would love to get published someday and I have wonderful ideas that can help me along that path, but I need to be patient and enjoy my hobby for all of the pleasures that it holds.

Feel free to take a look at why I WRITE and  my BLOG for what I write.

Other stuff.

I love school; rather, I love learning. I love learning of all sorts. I'm an academic as far as the term will allow me to be. If I could be a professional student, I would. I’ve already trudged through two undergraduate degrees - Honours English: Rhetoric and Professional Writing with a specialization in Global Literature AND Honours Psychology: Comprehensive (BA) with a minor/teachable in the French language - and I intend to keep going. However, it's not just an organized school community type education that I thirst for, but a worldly one as well. Life lessons, variability in social and community understanding, as well as mentality diversity are a few of the broad topics that interest me about the world.

I'm also a bit of a nature nerd. Not that I know a lot about it but that I definitely have a large amount of respect for it. I wish I knew more about the many aspects of nature but that would mean yet another degree and/or a lot of research and travelling as well as chatting with many knowledgeable people. No matter how much I would love to do all of those things, my wallet will not allow it.

Made. In. Canada.

Canadian born and raised; and very proud of it! I like to incorporate a little bit (or a lot) of Canada in everything I do. There are many ways to look at and express patriotism in any country and I discuss these in a number of my writings. The diversity of ideologies concerning nationality allows for a very creative outpost of expression. This being said, I consciously (and sometimes subconsciously) assert my "Canadian-ness" onto everything I create, written or otherwise.
